I have a 38 gallon starting to be reef tank...stocked with one cardinal fish...wondering what type of colorful fish I could add in this open top reef tank?
Thanks in Advance

What types of fish are you looking for? Any specific types? I think that the yasha hashi goby is really cool. he is smaller but it would be cool in your tank. A fairy wrasse would be cool, but it is an open top tank. A swasi basslet is a very colorful fish. Mandarians are cool if you tank has been set up for a while. Good Luck

You could get a Royal Gramma, Orchid Dottyback, Yellow Clown Goby, just to name a few. HTH

Yes, yellow clown gobies are cool. If you like them, check out a panda goby. It is sometimes called an acro goby or a poccillipora (sp?) goby.

if you buy a clown goby...make sure they take prepared foods...otherwise you'll need to give them live food (PITA)...ask the lfs to feed them while you observe.

Whatever you do I would definitely not put any species of dottyback in a 35. I've gone through a royal dottyback killing 4 fish including a damsel in my 75 gallon.

Actually, you could easily get away with orchid dottybacks. I've not had a single bad experience with them and neither has anyone else I've talked to, and I've talked to LOTS of people about this fish (at least 30).

u could have many of the smaller fishes like dottybacks flamefish and gobies just 2 name sum. more specifically, helfrich's flame fish-expensive but very purple... dottybacks(orchid dottybacks, bicolor) they're small, but can easily bright up a tank.if u want gobies, there arent many that come out a lot. they are accustomed to hiding.

You can also get captive bred orchid dottybacks, which are even less aggressive than the wild caught ones.
