What is the big orange ball looking coral at the bottom?

That's a really nice looking tank.

matt the fiddler:

Iz only one, all this years never split.

Lunchbucket:

The tank is over ten years old (Oceanic) i started that tank as BB but like everyone i change it to DSB.
After 5 years the sand was full of crap i had to get it out i was just tire clening the algae of the rocks and sand.
So far no problems with the BB i get some cyno here and there but i just siphone it out .
I had most of the ten years old LR cook.
I hope the tank last me ten more .

Good luck with the new CBB.

Is nothing on the bottom but coraline .
When the coraline get thick it bobbles up I just scrape it off and siphon it out when the new coraline grows is just lighter color and looks different also it gets some green encrusted algae for the snails to feed on you can see them on the bottom eating away.

Lunch,
Yes it just over ten years old now but when though some changes over the years just in corals after the Emperor when in the tank I had to get some of my LPS out ,I moved some LPS out becose they just can not handle the current from the Tunzes,
I was going to get a wavebox but they don't recommend it they said (Tunze) the tank is just to old it may break a seam.

SeanT,
The only thing the RBTA capture was two cleaner shrimps,
my ten year old Yellow tang ran right in to it many of times without killing it it was stung but that was it good thing is not a carpet anemone.

Looks great, Zoom!
Really presents an argument against "that horrible bare bottom look". All that coralline makes it look every bit as "natural" (if not more) than a layer of (dirty) sand.

I want to do what Steve did and I can't. I want all the corals on one island and anemones on the other. The problem I have is the anemone island is all crusted over with corals and I can't bring myself to kill them just yet.
So I'm not only jealous over the tank looking and growing so great, I'm jealous cause you can do what I want to do and can't.

Gorgeous tank, beautiful fish, and a great healthy stupid anemone Steve!

Nice Steve! Now all I have to do is wait for your frags to grow into "Zoom size" colonies

Thank you all

Bomber when I when BB I got the anemone the same time so it was easy to do the island for the Anemone I know I had to separate it from the rest of the tank it just came right on time.
I was also lucky and the anemone din't split I seen some BTA when they split the offsprings take a long walk and that will be a disaster.

Merv,
Your frags are growing very rapidly I like the yellow robusta the one with the green polyps.

That's what I was just going to ask you - does he move around or stay on the island.
I made a island for Helen (condy) one time. She would be at the other end of the tank every morning! Finally I gave up and moved everything to her island. Danged if she didn't then decide that she wanted to go back!!

No never move, or split, it is a deep water RBTA .

Sweet tank! I love how you separated the anemnones and corals. Very smart. The tank looks great with the coraline on the bottom.

Congrats on 10 years. The separation in the rockery to keep the anemones off to themselves improves the esthetic dimension and appeal of the tank, IMO. Also like the encrusted bottom, more appealing and less distracting, IMO, than seeing plastic or glass down there.
