I think RWHunt has some PVC for his mantis shrimp, and I think maybe AW2EOD has some PVC for his dragon eel, but I'm not 100% sure about that last one.
Some people do real elaborate setups, but I think, even just taking 2 pieces and joining them with an elbow to make an entrance and an exit are good enough usually.

I use a black abs plastic piece about 1.5 inches in diameter. It has three openings: Two forward facing and one turned up in the rear. I used a T piece with two 90 degree elbows on each side.
Here is a pic when it is already in the tank, its hard to see because of the black color, but I hop eyou get the idea. My mantis shoved lots of rubble in the central entrance, and just uses the extremes, I guess the lie the traditional style burrow, I imagine if my sfe lived in there it would happily make use of all holes, (and couldn't do an masonry work to close them up!) I used silicon (aquarium safe) to attach pieces of rubble and sand to the rim of the pipe tunnells, then I burried mine in the sand, then stacked extra pieces of LR rubble around the entrances to conceal the artificial look the best I could... My mantis then helped me out and signficantly built up around the entrance to the point where no pvc (abs plastic) is visible I should note that in this pic, he built up around the hole, Not I..Needless to say, I was impressed with his construction work... Since then, I have consulted him first for contracting any masonry work around the house! |
