Long term......how many chromis ya got?
On another thread we were discussing Chromis, whether or not they are aggresive, and how often I have read about people starting with schools and ending up with one, or maybe two. So I wanted to start a poll to see how many people actually have a shoal or school of Blue Green Chromis, that remained for any length of time...
So for the sake of simplicity, I will just do numbers 3+ This was sposed to be a poll, not sure what happened, but don't know how to fix it. So just say if you have had more than three or more Chromis for.....6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 yrs....... Thx |

They don't seem to be agressive at all.
Three years ago I started with 9 (Oceanic 180, RR), am now down to 4. I'll probably buy some more with my next order, what a foooo... |

I purchased 6 Chromis 4 years ago. I lost one during a power outage last year, and another in a PH accident in a holding vat while moving up from the 180 to the 450. So, I've 4 after 4 years. No problems with aggression at all really.

I had 4 for about 6 months. One was sarted dragging behind and died, and the 2 more followed him soon after. The other 2 were perfectly healthy until the other died and then they just went downhill. The last one isstill doing quite fine in my tank though.

I started with 6 - one at a time they passed - the 5th one last week - took about a year. Wierd thing is - at a certain point, they seem to lose their eyesight to a noticeable extent. I won't try a school of these again. I wonder if the last one will hang in there

Purchased 8 four years ago. I have 7 now. Mine have shown no aggressiveness toward their tankmates.

Started with 12, the group killed them all of them off until there were 3. Added 6 more now a group of 4 total. They will attack each other until they kill off all of them except the larger stronger fish in my experience.

I have had the same 3 since Dec. of '03. Some aggression but not bad. All eat like pigs and are pretty big for chromis.

I've had three for over a year. One is clearly dominant, they bicker a little, but not too bad. A lot of fish have come and gone since I've gotten my 3 chromis. I'm convinced they're immune to all disease.

I've had 7 for a couple years now. I started with 10 about 5 years ago and got down to 7 and then added 5 more to get to 12 and then went back down to 7 again. These 7 are much larger than any new chromis that you see at the fish store so it would be hard to buy any to add to the tank. I might try to add some again down the road. They are very aggressive feeders (I can catch them in a cup if I put it in the tank like I am going to feed them) but no other bad behaviour that I have noticed.
FWIW, Nathan

Started with 6 in Jan 04. Lost 2 of them about a year later, and the rest act funny in the corner of the tank and by the heater all the time. They seem to act normal during feeding time though.

Bumping, cause I just killed another Chromis in the QT, and not sure if it was my fault or not, but it sure looks like it has a bite out of it's side...other one swimming and eating still.

Bought 5 at deathco. 1 did not make it due to me not having the experience to save him from some bacteria problem.
The other 4 are perfect, and it's been 6 mo. They get along great with only a little "kissing" and chasing to show who's the dominant 1.
