Diary of a 1 gallon!

Well since I pretty much had my 12g nano set up when I came to reef central and since i've been here I've been so jealous of everyones pico I decided to make one myself. It'll be mostly zoos and pretty much am just going to use stuff I have from my 12g to get it up and runnin. Here are the starting pics. The new tank was orginally a collection box for entry forms into a contest we had at work... Suffice to say once they were done with it and I saw it was a nice piece of acrylic it didn't sit around long. You can see in picture 2 I had to glue a piece of acrylic over the entry slot so that it could hold water. This will end up being the back of the tank and once I put a hang-on and some live rock in there you won't even be able to see it. Now just have to wait 48 hours for it to completely cure.

Well as far as filtration I'm tempted to throw on my AC300 fuge that's on my 12 and upgrade that one to a AC500 fuge. My only dilema so far is lighting i'm not sure quite what I'm going to do in that area. As far as live stock well i've got some zoo's I have my eyes on to put in there, there'll be a light sand bed just taken from my 12 and also all my water will be taken from the 12 so it'll cycle really fast if even at all. I'm going to for sure put an auto topoff to it cause I hear evaporation is a pain in the butt on tanks this small so I found the float switch I want and will just end up ordering two of them one for each tank. I've got a picture of it being water tested I'll post that later tonight!

Ok I lied I got a chance to post the picture of it being water tested while I'm work so here ya go! The water level is a little lower that it will be when I have livestock in it, my dog decided to help himself to a little bit.

No the now tank was orginanlly a collection box for a promotion we ran at my work. I just took it and modified it a bit to hold water!

Lights will be the coralife 9" mini with 2x9w pc so 18w total over a little less than a gallon of actuall water volume. What's that over 18w a gallon... I think that'll be more than enough

Filter will be my current AC300 fuge that's all setup on my 12 gallon. I'm just going to move it over once I have the AC500 which may be tomorrow if I can con the wife into letting me get it

Well it seems most people are going with the ac20 filter on there pico so I think that would be a little easier to work with than the ac300. Hopefully be heading over to petsmart to pick that up today!

Well here's some updates for everyone! I made some legs out of acrylic for the light to sit on top of just have to wait to get the light in. Also I added some sand and my ac20, got her all filled with water and up and running. It's kinda a temp spot for now it's a bit rough don't think I'd subject anything living to it but progressing a long nicely.
