Question about Lion fish
I have a Volitan Lionfish. What is that clearish stuff they emit in the water? All lions do this. I've seen them do it at the fish stores and now mine has started doing it. Are they shedding? Is this stuff harmful to the other fish? Thanks.

I read about this in the lionfish care sheet here:
http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/fm/feature/ It's the lionfish's cuticle. They have this because they are sedentary fish and use it to dislodge parasites, etc. I think if you see this too often it's a bad sign.

That was a great article Flame Angel. Thanks. I have a Volitans and a Dwarf Fuzzy Lion. They are both phenominal fish. The Dwarf is great. He follows me around when I'm in the room showing off his fins (I guess that's his way of begging for food). Thanks for the responses!
