ID this leopard wrasse

I know this is some form of leopard wrasse, but I am curious to know what kind it is. This is the only picture on the web I could find of it, and it is better than any of the ones I took of mine 'cause the little bugger is too darn fast. I'd appreciate any help in IDing it.
Thanks

Yeah, that's M. ornatus. That's actually Flame*Angels wrasse, if you go to her website you can read all about it.

It's unbelievable how my photos get around like they do. That is indeed a pic of my Raistlin when he was a juvie. Macropharyngodon ornatus. He's close to 6" now and is in the terminal male stage. His "mate" is quite a bit younger and not quite ready to accept him but he keeps trying

These are very gentle fish and a great addition to a reef. They need a reasonably deep sandbed to sleep in.

We are looking to add a trio of leopards to our tank but we currently have a sixline will this be a problem? We have a 220g(8ft long) deep sand bed and lots of rock plus we will be doubling the size of our tank this year. A friend has his new 450 ready to transfer his fish and corals into and he also would like to get the leopards but has a sizline so we were hoping someone with leopards might be able to give us some insight (Greg has over 600lbs of liverock in his 450g so it has plenty of hiding spots and live food too.)

Sheryl

should work fine. Do the sixlien a favor and add a small sixline too. Then he is more on sex then on fight

Wait! I picked up a Macropharyngodon ornatus planning on keeping it in my large reef that also has a sixline....my sixline went crazy and was attacking it relentlessly, I had to pull out the stunned Macropharyngodon ornatus and put it into my small 20 gallon reef. The Macropharyngodon ornatus has been in my 20 gallon for 3 months and is doing great....fat and happy.

By the way, do Leopard wrasses and Macropharyngodon ornatus require about the same needs? Are they equal in term of their requirments? Is one easier than the other to keep?

Macropharyngodon is the leopard wrasse genus. Here's a good article for you to read:

Peter Schmiedel-
How do you know if a leopard wrasse is female or male?

Nako,

the coloration is different. Compare the pic's i.e. in R.Kuiters wrasse book.
