Napoleon Dynamite: You'll love it...or hate it.

I watched this movie Saturday night with my wife. And again this afternoon with my daughter and her friends. I liked it even better the second time. It's flippin' great!

From the reviews I've read, people either love or hate this movie, with nothing in between. Napoleon Dynamite is deadpan, quirky, plotless and filled with unattractive characters with fairly pathetic lives. The soundtrack is totally off the wall, and it seems like the camera never moves once a scene is set up.

So why is it one of my favorite movies of all time? Because every single scene is funny. It's completely antithetical to the usual coming-of-age, teen angst movie. The dialogue is terrifically funny, but in a subtle way. As I watched it with my daughter, I found myself looking forward with anticipation to almost every line, and there are a hundred lines destined to become cult classics. My favorite? "I caught you a delicious bass. Want to play me?"

OMG....

I watched it last weekend with my kids. My 15 year old son can do his voice perfect!

He walks around all day saying

"Maybe I will....dang!"

It's too funny.

I almost bought him a "Vote for Pedro" T-shirt at Spencer's.

LOL, my new favorite movie.
I also thought it was flipp'n great. I don't even know what my favorite part was, it has a lot of moments.
If I had to choose one then it would be when he's on the bus and the kid asks, 'what are you going to do today Napoleon?' Then he replies with 'What ever I feel like, geeeze' and throws his toy out the window.

I saw it a few times in the theater but haven't seen it since. I need to go buy it.

His dance is pretty sweet.

I felt indifferent about this movie. I did like La Fawnduh, though.

The best part is when the ex-quaterback guy who lives in a van says, "watch this" and then grabs that steak off Napolean's brother's plate and throw it sidearmed and hits Napolean in the forehead and Napoleans says, "uhh!" and falls off the bike. That was friggin AWESOME! It is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

Oh yes, I will own it ....Oh yes.

gee....here i was thinking that with a title like "Napoleon Dynamite: You'll love it...or hate it. " this would be an adult discussion about the movie. guess i was wrong.

I think it is supposed to just confuse you. There is some 70's and 80's clothing, but music from the 90's.

I flippin love that movie. I actually just finished watching it again. I love the part where Kip is trying to sell the tupperware so he backs over it and then just says "dang it" and drives away.

I feel like such a loser because I had that same trapper keeper, those same boots (I actually still have them, but I haven't worn them in probably 12 years), and I broke the ramp when I tried to jump it with my bike.

Oh yeah, make sure you watch the extra scene after the credits.

In the opening credits, Napoleon's school ID card is from 2004. It takes place in Preston, Idaho. The stars and film makers were students at Utah's Brigham Young University.

The ad for it seemed REALLY stupid. I'm guessing it's one of those types of movies you either have to have been a complete geek growing up or have partaken in some tealeaves if you know what i mean.

It should be. It's in the video stores so it should be out or coming out very soon.
