Please help ID this worm--picture

I found this worm eating a snail. I don't know if it killed the snail or if the snail died of other causes and it became a meal??

The worm is about .5" red on each end and dark in the middle section. It has bristles.

I would bet it's harmless. Most of the worms you see are ultimate scavangers. My guess would be that the snail died and this little dude was just cleaning up.
Also, picture is not at its best.

That looks like a small bristleworm to me. Romunov's right. It was probibly eating a snail that was already dead.
