I don't recommend a Blue Throat Trigger with clams. They can sample it. Maybe a little too much over time. I've worked at a pet store where I've fed them cockle shells. Small fish and shrimps and crabs are also out of the question as tankmates. I've tried feeding them feeder guppies and ghost or glass shrimps, ate them every single time. I used to do demos for people when they just come by the store to just browse, passes the time.

They do just fine - do a search - there are a number of reefers on the forum keeping Blue throat triggers with clams. I did it for years.

They're usually OK, but, as mentioned, some may be tempted to sample the mantle a little bit (sometimes a lot). Just know going into it that you have to keep an eye out for that.

he's in a tiny tank for now, hopefully he won't outgrow it before we move and get a big tank, so far he's only four inches, and doing well, he was a trade in from a friend, she's had him for over a year.
Great fun, shy and graceful...really love the muted color...he's got baby blue eyes.

I did see him look at the clam and it made me nervous....going to start up-ing the food....keep him fat and less tempted to graze on my crocea..

Yeah every bluejaw is different. Mine won't touch my 7 inch squamosa but has devoured 3 crocea's. They seemed fine for a while then come home one day and the foots ripped off and there's only an empty shell.

The cost of most fishes can vary pretty significantly by region. In this area, they're usually in the $40-50 range for smaller fishes, but I've seen large ones as high as $110.
I've seen smaller ones in other states in the $70-80 range.
