Brown algae
I have a 29 gal. tank salinty is 1.024 nitrate nitrite are 0 ammoina 0 P.H Is 8.2 5 pounds live rock . 1 damsel one hoarse shoe crab. and lots of brown algae.And my protein skimmer has been running for 1 week. Tank is 6 months old. How do i get rid of this stuff.

Eliminate the source of the algaes food: phosphates
Do this by using reverse osmosis (RO) water for your water changes and top offs. AND, get your lights on a timer if they arent already. Five or six hours a day is all that is you need without light sensitive corals. Good Luck John |

I tried just about everything to get rid of the BROWN ALGAE and could not get rid of it. So I just got tired of messing with it and let it run its course. It went away in about a month. I mean I did nothing no water change just top it off with ro/di water.
