HEy guys thanks for the compliments, i dont have a pic of it in action. This one hasnt been put in yet its going in tomorrow. The one i built for my friend has been wokring for about 3 weeks and has been really doing a great job. I ll see if i can get some pics of his. And ill also be taking pics of this one as it runs through its paces.

The Uniion isnt a 6" union its a 3" union the total size of it is about 6" wide.

A parts list is:

3/8" Acrylic sheet 6.5" x 36"
6" Acrylic tubing 28" long
3.5" Tubing 6" long
3" union
Pump assembly
(3) 1" pvc elbows
1" Pipe slide (for adjusting exit height) Not showin in pic
1" PVC Tee
about 2-3 feet of 1" PVC pipe

(2) 1" PVC pipe machined out from teh inside to a thin wall to match up with the output on the pump assembly

PVC Glue
Weldon 4
Weldon 16

I think thats all

no im running a needle impeller, i think im going to try the stock because ive run skimmers that work in the principle as this before with stock impellers and they chop the bubbles just as well. and the cost of the pump asseblies is extremely expensive.

OK. When I saw "DIY Euroreef" I had to look and see if someone had DIY'ed the impeller : http://www.euro-reef.com/technology/index.html

DBW at ozreef has made aspirating skimmers using both modified and nonmodified impellers. It works OK but not like the real deal

Last time I checked you can't buy Euroreef impellers unless you are doing a warranty claim.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I always enjoy looking at what other people are building.

Im gonna try DIY the impeller in the next week or 2, we'll see how it comes out

Looks good. I am in the process of assembling parts for a skimmer. That 3" coupler would be a great addition. Where did you get it?

Thanks

YOu can get the impellers for usually under $50 online although I can get it locally here in S. cal for about $25 or so.

How does the flow work on the EuroReef? It looks like the bubbles enter the big tube from the side, and the water exits from tube that takes it way high in the sump, but it's kinda hard to tell.

that's a beautiful job. i've had a much harder time working with
acrylic than i ever thought i would.
i'm really interested in the way the pump is aspirated. can you
show a pic of that with some explanation? i've tried to aspirate
some PH's but wasn't able to without using an actual air pump.
--for some reason it would only draw water, not air.
thanks!!
