Super glue?
When attaching frags with super glue can I just use any type of super glue or do I have to use a specific type? Also how should I go about doing it. This is for sps if it makes a difference?

You want Super Glue Gel. Dry the rock/shell you want to use, and dry the end of the sps frag. Apply the gel in a small puddle, and press your coral into it. Hold it for about 2 minutes, then submerge it in your tank.
The gel will turn white in the saltwater, but it will hold. I've done this several times.

Do I have to do it with the gel? If I can't find can I use the regular type?

Gel works. And it is cheap. You can find it almost anywhere - Walmart, Office Supply stores, Home Depot, Supermarkets.

You can try the regular kind, but it's very hard to use. The gel squishes better and get's into the little porous areas better for a good hold.

I even put large globs on the end of my finger and smear it on the rocks under water and them attach the frags that way. Or one can put a large blob on the bottom of a mounted frag and attach that way. the larger the crust on the end of your finger the easier it peels off. The only time I have a hard time getting it off is if there is just a little bit. Then it generally takes a day to wear off.

I used the regular glue and it worked just fine, obviously the thicker gel super glue is the ideal to use.

Yes, sure can. I did that with a tiny frag, and now you can't even see the rock I attached them too. I swear there is a small rock under them.

Holy Melev!!
How long did that take to grow from one small frag? I've always wanted a rock covered with a few different colored zoos. The only ones I can find around here or 1-2 colors and way more than I think its worth... |

I was visiting a member from our reef club, and saw them in one of his tanks and told him "Oooh, frag me some of those" and he ripped some out so quickly that I figured I might have asked for the wrong thing. You know what I mean. It looks pretty, you want it, and later you are dealing with a real plague.
I brought them home in a baggie, dried the base off and the small rock, applied super glue gel to the rock and pressed the zoos gently on. After about a minute I put it in the tank, and it has done really well ever since. Did anyone notice how I brought this back on topic?

Super glue gel works good because its thicker than the other.

Cool, i didn't know that we can super glue coral even under water (no need for dry surfaces...) as wingd described, since i've beeen wonder how to glue a piece of zoo on the back and side glass for the zoo to spread..
