CO2 adjustment
Got a Reef Fanatic regulator a couple months ago. Now that I've been able to get my PH up after the tank break in, I've been trying to get the calc reactor CO2 adjusted for a few weeks now, with little success. Need help determining whether its due to my inexperience or a faulty solenoid. I tried adjusting the bubble rate at 30 BPM (recommended by ReefTek). Since then I have steadily reduced to 12-15 BPM. My effluent PH stills swings down around 6.0 even though I am closing the solenoid at 6.5. i.e., it keeps dropping long after the solenoid has closed. After some observation I noticed that the CO2 keeps bubbling long after the SV is closed. According to the reef fanatic cut sheet it appears that it is normal to continue to discharge built up CO2 after the SV closes. Any idea how long this normally takes? Should I shut the SV at a PH of 7.0 to maintain a PH of 6.5? Or....does anyone think I have a bad solenoid.

it should bubble a little after the valve is closed (do you have a check valve in the co2 line)
but only from the pressure in the line (if you get salt creep in the solenoid it has a hard time sealing correctly)

yes on the check valve
seems like its bubbling for too long after sv closes, but I tried closing the main valve on the tank with the sv closed and it still kept bubbling, so I'm not sure what's happening anymore. |

I use a reef fanatic myself. I don't get more than 2-5 bubbles after my solenoid cuts off. What model reactor are you using and how many ml/min is your effluent coming out? what is the output pressure off your reg?
