Is mangrove or cheatomorph better for nityrate control?
Which is better?

I would think cheato. It tends to grow quite fast in my tank. I have one mangrove and it grows very slow, though it is very young.

I had both for awhile a couple years ago. At that time I read that 30 small mangroves will export the same amount of phosphates and nitrates as a baseball size clump of chaeto.

i saw a study for mangroves once and it showed they have min. effects in lowering nitrates... im gonna have to find it. but anyways i have both in my tank and i feel that the mangroves are just fun to have and i didnt notice a difference when i added it to my tank, however when i added the cheato i did notice a difference. you really would need a lot of mangrove pods to notice anything i think.
