Powerheads and Wavemakers

It's time to replace some of my MaxiJet powerheads that I use in conjunction with my Red Sea Wavemaker. It used to be that the MaxiJets were the only powerheads that could handle the power cycling without any chatter from the impeller at start up. Is this still the case. Any other powerheads work better?

Thanks.

Hydor Koralia power heads are good for reef tanks. I have two Koralia 3's in my 75 gallon reef tank. The 3’s are 850 GPH and are more of cone water propulsion instead of a jet. They make models 1, 2, 3, and 4 depending on your water flow needs. I haven’t had any problems with mine in about a year of running. No chatter on start up.

My Koralia 4's made lots of noise starting up on my Red Sea wavemaker. I am using the MJ1200 with the mod on the wavemaker now and they only chatter every once in a while. I heard wavemakers were not good for the modded ones but we will see.
