Once daily. The maroon pair (30g) gets Selcon-soaked flakes most of the time because that's what they like (Prime Reef or Formula One/Two), and the 90g gets blender mush, flakes, pellets, LFS frozen foods or a mixture of those, as well as a 4" x 4" sheet of nori or another seaweed is left on the clip for them to graze all day.

garlic soaked flake and mysis in the morning.
flake twice more in the day---not alot though If you over feed and don't rinse frozen food off with r/0 water then you are increasing the phosphates and the nitrates in your tank--- then you are feeding nuisance algae

Its funny, the fish know when theyre going to get fed. A minute or so before the food dumps, they gather by the feeder. |

I shoot for about 3 times daily. Sometimes less, sometimes more. Always between 1-5x. I have 14 fish (8 of them anthias) in my 90. They get frozen food when I'm there to feed, and an automatic feeder feeds when I'm not.

Sorry to be blunt here--but you go every two days or so without a meal and see how you feel.

OK, alot of opinions out there. My fish have been healthy happy fish for years and my tank has been very healthy, uptil recent with a jump in phosphates which am currently treating, but really have never had any concerns. I feed every two days and vary between several different food types. I also feed corals twice a week and they are flourishing, as they always have. It is nice to see different opinions. Thanks for yours.

I certainly don't feel bad at all for feeding my fish two or three times a week. Not giving a fish food for a day or two is nothing at all like not giving a person food for a day or two. Being warm blooded like a human is energetically expensive, which is why we have to eat so often. Being cold blooded like a fish is energetically cheap. As a general rule, cold blooded animals need to eat less. In the wild fish eat all day long, but in very small portions and the food varies in quality. Assuming you're using good quality food there's no reason most fish need to be fed daily and just like any other animal, fish can get overweight from too much food. Over the years I've seen quite a few examples. People don't realize how much more efficient fish are at converting food to body mass or energy than land animals are.
If you want to feed daily or multiple times a day then there's nothing wrong with that as long as you're feeding appropriate amounts. There's also nothing wrong with going a few days without feeding, again as long as you feed appropriate amounts. What do I know though? I only used to study fish metabolism.

I feed once per day.
If one has a healthy reef, there is plenty of food that naturally occurs in there....algae, pods, sponges, etc..... Just because one might feed his/her fish infrequently doesn't mean they are not eating and getting sustinence. Tracy
