Humbug killed my cleaner!
I just bought a cleaner shrimp today, and as soon as it was in the tank my humbug was harassing it. He was just walking about on the rocks and suddenly the humbug came over the top of the rocks and started nipping at him the shrimp flippped over and the humbug bit its tentacles of and then one of his claws then his legs! so the cleaner couldnt walk so the humbug decided to try and tear apart his whole body, i tried for a veeeeeeery long time trying to get the humbug out but he just went off into his little hole. The cleaner was still alive after having half his body torn off.
Does anybody know why he would do this because i thought they would appreciate having a cleaner shrimp. I drip acclimated him for 90 minutes then scooped him up in a bucket and poured him into the tank and as soon as he hit the water the humbug was like a wild dog! |

When introducing something like that I usually feed the fish heavily before the addition goes in. I also will, at times, introduce a shrimp at night into the tank. Just so it can find a nice hole somewhere while the fish sleep.

ill keep that in mind next time. But wont you have to keep it in the bang for a logn time to introduce it at night?
