Well I build walls for a living, and It's quite simple to put a tank in .My tank is large but I basicly cut out the old wall reframed to the right size, made 2 templates for curve stick framed them then fasened to ceiling.Drywalled with green board (moisture resistant) then Taped paint ect. O ya I also Jacked the floor in the basement. just in case. I've seen many other options and some involve archways ,Tanks up filtration in basement.Lots of options most of my pics are in tank still looking

A 100 gal. in wall
Please excuse the ironing board..lol...There is not much room to get a straight on photo of the tank as it is in my Foyer. But it is a 100 gal with a few softie's and a Tang and two skunk clowns for my Sebae. Last edited by reefdiva; 12/28/2007 at 09:33 AM. |

bteagle93 - they are all basically the same. The main thing to look for is if it's a supporting wall or not. That will dictate your construction and possibly your location. Most have the tank sit on the wall so when they frame it, it will fit flat and be part of the wall. I have a 280g build going on now and because it's 36" deep I brought 18" into my living room and the other 18" is in my fish room. I like being able to see from the sides - lots of activity going on behind the rockwork .
So basically check your structure above, check for electric or any other pipes below. When all is good, build your stand to your liking and then cut the wall - take it very slow when cutting as you never know what you will find. Add your finishing touches on the front to your liking and then the fun begins behind the wall in the fish room. This is my build thread: http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...readid=1145853
