Any luck with large Angel?
I was wondering if anyone has ever had any luck with putting a large angel in a soft coral tank.....i heard they are fine in a SPS tank. I was thinking about adding a blue face angel to my tank. i have a lot of mushrooms and a colt coral, xenia, zoos and i am going to get more soft corals down the road.in terms of fish i have a blue tang, yellow tang, two percs clowns and a clarkii, and a few small fish (goby, blenny, dottyback) Does anyone think it is possible without him eating the corals?

Are all those corals and mushrooms doing okay with power compact lights? I have power compact lights and thinking of adding corals.

Large angel in a soft coral tank...Total disaster costing thousands of dollars.
SPS under PC lighting...Total disaster costing hundreds of dollars. This thread being nominated for Thread Of The Month"...Priceless. For everything else there's Mastercard.

For about 3 months I had a juvi blueface angel in a tank full of mushrooms. S/He never touched a one of them. Ended up selling all the mushroom rocks.
It is currently with SPS, a clam, and two Haddoni anemones, no issues at all. However, a zoa will last about 30 seconds in my tank.

Nope, just the SPS, clam and anemones.
Here is a picture of him from a couple of weeks ago. And here he is when I first got him -- A little beat up from my lemonpeel angel that I sold shortly after this picture.

Im in the same boat.... I LOVE the looks of a mixed reef, by MAN do I really want an Emperator Angel.... I think I want one bad enough to give it a try once the tank is up and running, but would hate to lose some of the zoas and the clam that I already have...

I have an Emporator and a Koran in my reef. It leaves all my SPS alone. It also does not bother my clams.
If a softie coral started growing in my tank I would hope he would eat it! |

Yea, I had my blue face make a nice meal out of a $100 zoa rock. Wasn't too happy about that, but still think it is a great fish.

A few posts up you were begging for responses to this thread. He suggested that you repost your thread and you blast him for writing stuff in your threads that have nothing to do with what you are asking. His advice to repst was valid. Many people hit the "Get New" button when coming back to RC just to see what new threads have been posted. Since your old post had gotten no responses, putting up a new post could draw more views and thus more answers. In the interest of not being a complete jacka$$, I'll answer your original question. No, do not put a large angel in a mixed/softies reef. The fish will eat your xenia, zoas, LPS, most leathers, probably clam mantles (there are exceptions) and possibly your mushrooms (especially any of the frilly type like bulleye and ricordia).
