And to add what was said above....

I actually use a gravel vac when I do my weekly water changes. However it should be noted that I have shallow sand beds in each of my tanks. Using the sand bed for looks and to keep my anemones happy, so it isn't an issue for me that I am disturbing it each week.

My recomendation is a Diamond Watchman Goby, I had an out break on velevt aglae and he just siffied it all up and turn over the thank and never had a problem with it after that. Here some added info on him . . .

blue legg hermit Crabs, Snails, sand sifting star (does a great job), diamond watchman goby ( I heard they go after shrimp - ??)

Get your powerheads low and aim it/them across the sand.
