They are not noisy when they are running. You cannot hear them while running. They do chatter for a few seconds during start.

In looking around I came to believe that these were the best for the money. I was originally going to buy Tunze 6055 nanostreams and controller but gave up after waiting a year for them.
I'm hoping someone comes out with a variable speed controller for the Koralias

My #4 chatters during start up but my #2 doesnt. I also have them on a RS wavemaker. I think I figured out a way to stop the chatter. If it works I will post again.

Mine used to chatter after a cleaning once. I found out one of the little washers under the prop fell out. Replaced it with a teflon washer and it was quiet again.

Good pumps. They make good water movement and are noise free.

they chatter when they start up because when they get electricity to the magnets they tend to not only spin the propeller but to push it outward on their support shaft, it could be fixed if you put a piece of 1/8" tubing, taking the space between the front of propeller and top of cage housing of powerhead, havent tried it yet, but will post results later.

I own two #3s and LIKE THEM ALOT! No noise when running. Very easy to direct flow.
