why would you want to spend the money? Do you have any old pill bottles around? All you have to do is get a pill bottle, drill 2 holes in it, either on the same side or on opposite sides, put your skimmer air intake into one and shove it all the way in, but not touching the other side, and then put another short piece into the other hole.. cheap and easy. If it's still making too much noise for you, you can fill it w/ tissues or something.

I used 2 PVC end caps and a short piece of pvc pipe. Drilled hole in both end caps, stuck the hose in one side, and a short piece in the other...Dead quiet...
Push the hoses a little past each other...
You don't even need to glue them.

yeah very easy, thanks! I used to have a bubble king mini 200 and the air silencer looked around 1". I have not tested the DIY silencer yet since I am still waiting for the H&S skimmer

I just increased the length of the airline tubing. No noise, no degradation in the amount of bubbles in skimmer and cheap.

yeah that might work but I like something small and neat so I can mount right by the skimmer output pipe
