thanks. His streamer need some growing. He looks so healthy. I am really glad I found this guy. It's amazing how beautiful these fish can be when they're just black and white (with a little yellow).

yes the streamer will grow.. for a few months mine(s) would grow theres then have them fall off. I think it was because of stress they eventually didn't get along so i removed one and now my remaining one has never lost it again and its keeps on growing!

Nice looking idol. Feed it a little more if you just got it. It looks a little skinny from the above pics because you can see the lateral bone when it swims straight.
If you read the huge moorish idol thread the idols that are fed 4x + a day tend to survive better. Here was mine for a year before I lost it due to a tank crash |

Yep, he is thick, but you can still see the bone. Don't worry, I'll fatten him up.

This is day 3 on my moorish idol and he has eaten EVERYTHING that I have put in the tank - brine, mysis, forumula 1 frozen, formula 1 flake and pellets, formula 2 flake and pellets. New life spectrum. He will eat anything. I even tried some medium pellets tonight and he gobbled them up like crazy. He'll be FAT in no time the way he is eating. I love this fish.

Even the most experienced with large tanks often have trouble keeping them. I would think an established 125 at the very least would be the minimum |

Hi,
Don't mean to be hypercritical, but did you quarantine the moorish? They are prone to Cryptocaryon and don't tolerate copper or hyposalinity well, so treating them is an issue. I watched the video, it looks like there is a lot more activity in that tank than idols prefer - your fish looks like my grandmother driving on the Dan Ryan expressway at rush hour I see the thinness that the others mentioned, but that can be overcome as long as your's is fed many times a day and if the other fish don't steal the food. I have a moorish that I gave a six week observational quarantine to and moved it into a 500 gallon tank with soft corals and a few gobies and 3 LN butterflyfish. Four months later its still a bit thin, but its streamer has grown back. It has taken to blowing into the sand and then eating *something* it is finding. One day though, it stopped eating and bloated up. About five days later it thinned down and began feeding again. I could only surmise that it got temporarily impacted with sand. Jay Hemdal |
