I have the thick ones but don't really use them. The ones out there though are either too bulky or too thin!

Forget about the contamination, worry about your fingers swelling up if you get poked by something with spines!

I also use the aqua gloves, but they are rather thick and hard to do the little jobs.

Interesting.
So would you say that you use them more for you own protection or the tanks?

I was unfortunate to contract this while in my aquarium. Started on my thumb and worked its way up. The pus filled bumps would not go away. I tried everything myself for a week or so. I then went to a dermatologist who looked surprised to see this. It took weeks of a pretty powerful antibiotics and then surgery to cut some of the lesions out. I still don't were gloves but I do wash throughly with hot soapy water every time I'm in a tank.

Yes they are rather thick. Very durable.

I do use them primarily for my own protection, bristleworms and other critters in my LR etc etc.

I use them...

1. Because they are shoulder length and have an elastic band to keep the sleeve up.
2. They are thick and wont get punctured or sliced.

I use them for every day tank maintenance as well, I have just become used to them.

I can get down and dirty with little fear hehe.

Use medical examination gloves ( non powder type). They are cheap and easy to work with. Good for protection against infections, allergies, irritants and mechanical traumas.

I used to do it by my bare hand,
Until one day , I add kalk water in aquarium,
and rubbed my eyes before I have washed my hand.

That hurts!
15 mins of eye washing,
15 mins of wearing goggle filled with water.

So it's better to wear glove if you want to add kalk water
or use test kit.

I use the Aqua gloves, elbow high rubber gloves and latex gloves depending on the type of work in the tank. I also develop an infection that started on one of my finger and went up the arm.
