i can see a red film/ fungus on them and thats not good to start. not sure the pintch of the stock is related but not a good either. its or them are a common, i guess, illness we seem to have to combat with zoa’s. I would clean off the algea and slime from the stocks with a soft tooth brush and i might even dip them its a good way to check for preditors but i dont think that is the case. more like and infections which there are a lot of related issues here in the zoa section of RC. hopfully some other will reply as well.

film

I did not see the film, but have had it on a colony. Both times it was a lack of flow. Gently cleaned the film off and changed the flow pattern and no more problem.

Good luck.

i'll look closer for this film, but this colony is direcly under my return and opposite a powerhead. i'll brush it and see what's up.

i've never done it, is it possible to post videos to RC so i can show the flow?

here's my return. it's a 90 gal with 3 mj1200's and a mag 5 for the return from the sump.

thanks, i responded there, but i'll ask here as well.

another forum said it was definitely the start of pox as well, and today i'm looking at some other zoos and it seems they are riddled with it as well. do i need to treat ALL the zoos i have in my tank, or just the ones i see the pox on?

inspect every polyp and if you see one then treat the colony. I would also set up a QT if you already do not have one so it will not infect the other colonies. If it is riddled with the pox you might want to cut your losses now and pitch it. good luck

pox seems to have been plaguing reef tanks since 03, or at least that's when people started getting frustrated enough to have a 20 page article on treating it.

if you look at the picture in that link, it is the little yellow round bump right above the date.

jonathanws and taku,
I am not up on all of your hip rhetoric? Can you please enlighten us as to what this ghetto verbage is implying? Will it help this reefer out? If so please let us know.

Far from hip hop rhetoric. Both of us are members of another forum abbreviated "csi" It's lingo you'd understand if you were a member of that forum. An inside joke between several thousand people, if you will.
