thats allot of light bulbs, why not just upgrade to two 400w lights, save a little bit of energy equipment costs. better selection of SE bulbs IMO.

Because then you can't run "metal halide actinics" like I've recently switched over to! I've been running my 20k bulb for 12hr, and the 14k bulbs for 8hr (though I'm thinking about bringing those down to 6hr) to simulate midday sun.

I like mixing 20k with 10k over my 120 (4 x 250w). Lighting looked great and the corals LOVED it!

i think a reeflux 12k might be what you are after, they are much bluer than a 14k

I run my 2-400s (xm 400w 20k) 11am -6pm
Recently I run a 175 14k ushio 9am-11am and 5:30-6:30pm..
I may run 400w 14k ushios next time I replace my 20k XMs!!

I'm running Ushios, but not double-ended, not 250W, nor 20k Sorry.
