Fairy / Flasher Wrasses

I'm Looking into adding a wrasse into my reef tank. It is 55 gal and has been up and running for about a year and a half. It has live sand and about 50 lbs of live rock. I'm looking to add color and also keep my tank peaceful with my other fish.

My Livestock:
Sailfin Tang
Firefish Goby
Lawnmower Blenny
Bangii Cardinal
Green Mandarine Dragonnette
Fire Clownfish
Cleaner Shrimp
Camel Shrimp

Any Suggestions are welcomed

Thanks

Run Forest, RUN!!!

My suggestion would be to duck and cover, the Tang Police are going to tear into you. Their favorite prey are unsuspecting folk who ask an innocent question, and include in their stocking list a Tang that grown 15 inches long that is being kept in a tank that is only 12 inches wide. No matter what you say there is no defence in their eyes. It won't matter that the fish is 2 inches long and your father has a 10,000gal tank that it will go into when it gets to be 5 inches. They will tear into you and it won't be pretty.

That being said, in answer to your question I don't see any fish that immediately tells me you can't have a Flasher or Fairy. I would opt for one of the smaller Fairy's or a flasher wrasse. Keep the tank completly covered or it will find the floor. In my tank the Fairies bounce around the canopy at least once a week just from starteling them at feeding time.

as stated before, wrasses are big time jumpers. I would recommend something like a mccoskers or carpenters wrasse if you want a flasher, filimented are good too. i've never owned a fairy wrasse, so i'm not sure which one to suggest there.

if you were to get a fairy..i would say a lubbocks, yellowfin, social..some of those would be a god fit..even the c. rubrisquamis would be nice they stay small too...any flasher would be good also..like it was said before a tight fitting top is a must it is not if they jump but when

someone quick dial 911 we need the tang police!!..all kidding aside..you need to try and find a new home for that sailfin it will get way too big for that tank

Welcome to RC!
Yeah that sailfin will def outgrow that tank fast and become absurdly aggresive, and I'm talking from experience. My sailfin was basically torturing fish the same size as it in my 90. Not fun.

Thanks for all the suggestions and I will take care of it. The tang is only a temporary visitor and will be going to his permanent home within the next few months.

Thanks Again
