I need help! found this in tank today...

Was cleaning the glass and found this ???
It is currently in plastic bowl pending your review.
I dont have a clue as to if it is good or bad ?
It can stretch to about 2.5 "

Here is a Reefkeeping article by Dr Ron Shimek about peanut worms (aka Sipunculans). The worm in his photo is a bit retracted, but what you have is definitely a peanut worm. Their length can change quite a bit as you've noted.

just a note from Shimek (from link above)

Such worms may persist in reef aquaria provided the aquaria are fed well. However, most aquaria are fed too sparsely for these animals to persist and they starve to death and disappear.

Are you suggesting that peanut worms eat peanuts, and because your tank does not contain peanuts, you are confused by the worm's presence? Or did I misread this?
