Question trapped air in an Korallin 1502 calcium reactor?

I am having trouble with search function, so please forgive if this question has been beat dead.

I recently purchased a used Korallin 1502 calcium reactor and I have set it up as per dragon_slayer's advice
http://www.jandareef.com/doc/korallin.doc
effluent about 40 drops per minute and with 10 CO2 bubbles per min or one every 6 seconds or so.

After running for several hours, air/CO2 accumulates in the top of the reactor to about a 1 inch depth.

This causes the eheim pump to cavitate some and make more noise.

I can relieve the pressure and vent the trapped air through the vent outlet at the top, but the problem just re-esatblishes it self over time.

am I supposed to keep the vent outlet open some all the time?
or should I try and decrease the bubble rate even more?
or is it just the way it works for most and I should just live with a noisy reactor?

Chris

Two outlets should be open at all times; the vent is turned down to slightly opened to bleed out extra gases and the effluent is tuned to the desired drip rate

Thanks JenDub.
I'll try that.

I assume I should run the vent line to the sump just in case any liquid escapes? but above the water line to keep excess CO2 from entering tank water and affecting ph?

I used to run mine (when I had a 1502) with the top effluent opened only enough to drip 1 per minute. I had it drip into a small cup of Ca media that had holes drilling in the bottom so it would use up any excess CO2 before dripping back into the sump.
