is this enough

hi there, i am currently using a 2ft by 1ft by 1.5 ft (height) tank with 1 inch of live sand, abt 8-5kg of live rocks a red sea primz skimmer, chiller(set at 26 c) and a 250w mh (sits abt 3-4 inches above the water) with 2 t5 lights.

i am not running a sump, and planning on a weekly 10-15% water change as well as supplementary calcium dosing.

is the equipment right for keeping sps corals? oh also using a seio 820 and bouncing the flow of the glass
thanks

i think you have enough.doing hefty water changes weekly you dont even need a bunch of equiptment .lighting and water movement is all you need if you do plenty of water changes with rodi water and good reef salt. you should be alright.

you should be alright.the older and more stable the better.so if it less than 6 months old than waiting is the safest way.try a hardy acro like a green slimer or some motipora.they are usually the toughest to kill.no problem, ask away

i'm not an expert here but down the road i'd think about replacing that skimmer with a better skimmer (red sea it's ok but you gotta be fixing it all the time to get it working right) i'm running an ASM baby1 (modded) in my 37 and so far it does way more gunk than what my prizm used to do.

i don't knwo just something to think about

at first i was think abt doing a minor water change every 4 days but then someone sold me their primz for 20 singapore dollars ($14USD) so i couldnt resist.. bought it and now i am think about 15-20% once weekly and i will probably only keep 1 fish in my tank.. MYSTERY WRASSE!!

what i am worried about now it that because there is only 4-5 inches between the water and the 250 mh will it burn the sps corals? what steps should i take to get it use to my lights? currently there is nothing in my tank, just wanna make sure i get these things right before putting any corals in..

didn't you say you're running a chiller?

maybe make sure corals are about 3in from surface also you could add a small fan to blow across the surface of the tank to dissapate heat. start the corals at the bottom to get them use to the lights.

yup i am running both a chiller and a little pc fan. the temp of the water isnt the issue.. what i was talking abt was the strength of the lights..

so i just leave them on the sand bed first? for how long, and run a normal light cycle while on the ground? then how long before i can move them further up?

thanks for all the help so far guys! just wanna make sure i do this right.. been thinking for a while abt if i should make the switch... tired of lps corals..

In that small of tank its going to be difficult to keep your water parameters correct. Plus your going to burn off a lot of water with that 250mh. What are you going to use for top off?

Your lights are to close 8-12 inches from the top of your water to the center of your bulb, and thats for a 24 inch deep tank.Your risking bleaching your corals.
