Acropora abrotanoides - Advice Needed

I have a chance to pick up a nice looking piece but I have no experience with this variety of Acro and can't find any references in the books I own.

Any guidance as to hardiness, lighting and flow preferences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

it says they come form shallow turbulant reefs,so id go with high flow and high light.

Very difficult to keep colored up, IMO. I've tried 2. My latest one has fared slightly better and still shows pinkish growth along the tips and margins, but not as colorful as when I received it. I've tried high and low light and flow and cant seem to find the 'sweet spot'. Still, it's growing at a reasonable rate and looks interesting under actinics, which turn it green w/ pink.

Mine is doing well but doesn't look as insanely pink/yellow as it did coming out of the ocean.
It's one of those crazy nice colors that seem to change without the UV in our tanks I think.
I have 2 and keep em under about 600-700 PAR and one is high flow the other medium flow, time will tell which flow it likes better.

I've been able to hold color on my all mine the red, red and green and just green one. My only problem is the polyps are brown and now extending so much the coral is covered by them.

Mine's under medium light/high flow. I have good color & ok growth. I think this species is just a natural slow grower...for most of us anyways

Well, my guess is it *seems* slow since the banches are soooo thick. To grow 1cm, requires a pant load of calcification, compared to some skinny little stag...

We'll see how mine fares.

I have it in one of the brightest spots in my tank, with good flow.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it retains its colors...I hate when they brown out!!
