What do you feed??
just wondering what everyone is feeding these days.. i am just about out of my flakes so i need to get something new.. i have used prime reef and formula two flakes, ORA GLO pellets, as well as O.S.I. spirulina flakes(didnt like these and they smell really really bad!!).. just looking for something new to try and as an alternative to the frozen foods i use.. taking suggestions!!
Vibra-Gro pellets is something i have wanted to try but wherever i find it it has a heavy price tag.. and that four dollar container of flakes looks so much better..lol..

I feed Ora Glo pellets, nori, prime reef and mysis shrimp.
Corals I feed DT's Phytoplankton (sp?), Cyclopeeze (sp?) and rotifiers. That is the mainstay of my feeding items. Once in a while I augment with something different that I want to try to see how well it is accepted. Bryan

My fish love the OSI flakes, and I think 'stinky' food is also what fish prefer. Have a couple different pellets I alternate through but mostly feed frozen.
Also feed Nori strips every other day and daily a mix of frozen foods that sit in vitamins and garlic for at least 15 minutes prior to feeding. Keep meaning to try some dried items but have not yet. |

Cyclopeeze, granular food, fine food for gorgonians/sponges, spirulina, and 6-7 types of frozen food including phytoplankton.
I think variation is good. |

I'm looking to try some "dry" foods New Life Spectrum and Cyclop wafers interest me. I currently feed a home blend of fresh seafoods and other things combined into a frozen "grool." By understocking the tank does a very good job feeding my fish itself. Last edited by mr.maroonsalty; 11/12/2007 at 10:28 AM. |

I have a mix of ORA Glo, Formula 1 and Formula 2 pellets in my autofeeder. I also clip nori and/or seaweed from the oriental food store every few days.
Since I'm battling cyano, I've cut back on my homemade frozen mix of squid, fish, octopus, mysis, cyclopeeze, and brine soaked in Selcon to once every 3-4 days.

Mornings:
- Ocean Nutrition formula 1 and 2 small pellet in the am I've been using this for about a year. I soak it for a few minutes so that it moves around in the water column. All of the sizes of fish that I have go crazy for it, and it makes it's way to the anemone, plate coral, and frogspawn. Sometimes my polyps close on it. I've even seen my mandarin stalk it (but never actually witness him eat it). I'm about halfway through with what I have, let me know if anyone wants to combine shipping to order some more. Evenings alternate between: - Dry nori sheets and caulerpa in the clip. Is fresh nori sold in the produce section at any grocery stores in Buffalo? - I've got a mixture of some goodies from the wegmasn seafood counter (scallops, shrimp, squid, etc) that I combine with silversides, krill, clams. I put this into the food processor, then freeze it in a sheet. A chunk of this goes into the tank 3 - Frozen cubes of formula 1 and 2 Late evening: - Alternate frozen brine and frozen mysis every other day. I put a little bit in the tank, then do my target feeding a few minutes later. |

I feed O.N. flakes very rarely- but that's the flake food I use when I feed flake.
Cyclopeeze, VibraGro, frozen mysids and nori are staples. I also like to use HBH soft'n'moist spirulina pellets. (Pellet foods work best in my auto feeder.) Once in a great while I get some frozen food with sponge in it for my Emperor or some DT's oyster eggs for the corals. Big fishes get frozen krill occasionally. I just happened to feed some Chaetomorpha to my Foxface and Angelfish today. If you compare price by weight VibraGro isn't that expensive. One can of small pellets lasts a really long time.
