T5 retro install
Can I attach the endcaps and reflectors directly to the top of a wooden canopy, or should I put risers under the lights?
Any other tips on putting one of these together? |

It will depend on how far off the water you want your bulbs to be. If you want them closer than they will be attached directly to the canopy, you'll need risers. In this case the risers are lowering your bulbs though

T5's do not get super hot like MH bulbs. While risers I do not think are required, I would say they are a good idea if they can be fit reasonably.

I've got about 5 inches in total vertical space in the canopy. The bulbs and reflectors will probably take up 2-2.5 inches of that. If I put in risers, do I need to get one that is sufficiently wide enough for the endcap and the reflector, one or the other? I have the kit already, I just haven't pieced it together yet.
