reef angels

Are any of the dwarf angels better than others for a reef tank? What kind of experiences has everyone had with dwarf angels and reefs?

thanks

I had to remove my lemonpeel once corals were intoduced into my system. No dwarfs are reef safe per se, some are less likely to nip at coral, but all very likely will. The only angel species that is generally thought to be reef safe are the genicanthus family. And they are far less colorful than the dwarf angels and grow to about 5-8 inches.

My coral beauty has been safe for three plus years. But they are all individuals.

I'm going on 6 months with a Coral Beauty in my reef tank with zero issues. He gets fed 3 times a day from an autofeeder so I think he's probably full.

One word of warning, my CB can be quite aggressive towards my other fish. He totally dominates my 125g. Granted, all of my other fish are small but even the Asfur Angel and Tomini Tang back down when the CB goes after them!

id say all are likely to pic, some take it to a higher degree and pester, killing corals, something my coral beauty and flame don't do

potter's and lemonpeel's are among the worst

Here is a general guide but obviously they can all pick on a coral at some point (1 being the safest and 4 being the riskiest:

1. Replendant, True Pygmy, Flameback, and firballs

2. Coral Beauty and Nox
Interruptus
Flame
Rusty
Shephards
Potters
Fischers

3. Golden
Multicolor
Bicolor
Eibli

4. Lemonpeel
Joculators

I have a Golden Angel, and the only coral I have seen him pick at was an open brain. He's usually too shy to venture out of the caves, so he probably does not even know there are corals to pick at.
