When a power outage is blessing

Had a two hour long brown out then full outage yesterday. I was at home at the time to observe how the sytem took it and all went well except for the light restart through the neptune controller. The controller never knew it had to restart. Otherwise the system took it without a hitch.

The real blessing came moments into the brown out. The cute little yellow goby that I introducted about two months ago, which soon became that evil millipora polyp eating bastard that I could not get rid of, freeked out when everything shut down. He sat panting on the sand right at the front of the tank. A moment later he was in my net and on his way to another persons tank.

After many hours of hunting and three corals heavily damaged and stressed, my tank has a bright future of new problems to look forward to and an old one behind it.

Yellow Watchman Gobies aren't. He's talking about Yellow Clown Gobies

yellow clown gobies eat millipora polyps? Hmm, never knew that before. I've always thought that they were reef safe

I had the same issue with a yellow clown goby. As soon as it went into the tank, it went to town on my SPS

Simulating a power failure is a good idea. If something is going to fail it's best when you're there to fix the problem.

Good Advice Agu.

I unplug everything before waterchanges just to be sure all is still well. O.K. I don't actually pull the plugs, they are all on switches.

Yes the little yellow guy was a Clown Goby. I have to admit that contrary to my usual methods, he was a bit of an impulse buy. Usually I pretty well know exactly what I am getting and I knew little about the clown goby except that we was generally considered reef safe. He went to town on the polyps the first day, getting more aggressive as time went on. He was also quick to hide so very tough to catch.
