Just received an anemone via shipping and have a question.

I just received a BTA anemone through FedEx.
It is still in the bag, in the sump warming up.
I have had an anemone before (sold it years ago) but when I purchased that one it came attached to the rock.

This anemone is free floating.

Once acclimated should I just place it in the tank?
I can't imagine that going very well with the flow I have going on.

Should I turn off all Tunze's and the return pump?

I, seriously, have no clue on how to get this animal to attach rapidly.

I guess I was just under the impression that the rock it was on in the vendors photo was coming too.

No big deal on that though.

Thanks,
Sean

I would turn off your pumps, kind of put him where you would like him and then place some rocks around him (kind of fence him) hoping that he stays there and attaches.

I received mine that way as well. I just held it up against an area of rock where I wanted it to attach. It attached immediatly. I would leave some of your flow going to give it reason to attach. Mine moved a bit from where I placed it, but not too far.

This worked twice for me (condy, not BTA):
- Find place, facing the light (window sideways and MH above, in my case, anemone is at the bottom, facing window).
- The flow should be low, without sweeping tentacles away (at the bottom, aside from Mini-Jet 606, 150 gph, in my case).
- Make the burrow from LR for the anemone body. It can be trice wide, but body deep. More or less.
- Put anemone there, give it 15 min without pump on near it, then turn on pump. Several hours later mine was firmly attached.

Intakes and heaters beter to be protected, at least until anemone settles.
My 2 cents.

A fingernail under the foot and some patience should get him off the bowl...mine did the same.

I had a rock with a nice big hole in the middle and mine has never moved since i put it there.

That should be a good sign though I would think.
