What are some good combinations of tangs?

I have a 120 and a small bristletooth tang in it. I want to add two more small tangs. I wanted to put a PBT and either a sailfin or naso. Any suggestions?

PBT would probably be your best bet. I would opt for a yellow or purple tang which would be a better long term fit in your 120. A Naso and salfin get way to big and i would only add one more tang. Let us know what you decide.

I thought that you have to have 1 or 3 tangs in order to have peace. Yellow would be cool though.

A general rule is to have no more than one tang per genus.

I'd pass on the sailfins or nasos...they just look too big and bulky in anything but really big tanks, IMO.

I've got a tomini and powder blue together in my tank. No issues.

I would recommend that if you decide to add a PBT, add it last. They can be aggressive to new tankmates if added before them.

Looks great. Sorry about your 250. Why did you shut it down?

I sold it when I moved into my house. I used to live in an apartment and had it as a room divider and when I purchased my house I had no room for it (go figure)

What kind of tang is that? I think you'd be OK with a powder blue or brown, and a yellow, scopas, or purple. I agree the naso and sailfin get to large. You may try one of the mimic tangs, also, thay stay small and usually peaceful. Whatever you decide on, I would add them at the same time.

It's a Ctenochaetus striatus

Good call on the mimic/chocolate tang. I always forget about that one....

Its a striatus, orange striped bristle tooth. I was going to add just one PBT. Think it would be alright?

I have a PBT, a purple tang and a powder brown(A. japonicus) in the same 350g. they didn't used to get along in the beginning especially the brown and blue because they are both Acanthuruses. I put them in the same quarantine tank with two clear dividers to keep them from getting at each other. When I feed them I would take the dividers off for as long as they don't fight. When the chasing and nipping get out of hand I would put the dividers back in. Over a period of a few weeks when they started getting used to each other I would keep the dividers out for longer periods until they finally are at the point where they can tolerate each other without pulling out the switchblades. Now they are in the main tank. There is still some chasing once in a while between the blue and brown but there is never any physical contact (although one could've bit into the other if they wanted to)and sometimes I think they do it for fun! Seriously, they would chase each other aroung the tank, stop to catch their breath then the other will do the chasing. Has anyone seen this behavior before? It's like two kids playing hide and seek/tag.
Tangs are beautiful fish. They say PBT's are difficult to keep but I've never had any problems with mine. I have had him for 4 months and he's as hardy as a damsel.

Is anyone else thinking a 4' 120 might be too small for a PBT?

I like regals also but, I hear they are very ich prone. One might be alright as long as he doesn't get too stressed when I put him in.
