Type-o above should read-

Is it possible to overskim your tank with to big of a skimmer?

I should learn to proof read before submitting. But really can you overskim?

I believe YES... you skim to remove undesirable thing's, but at the same time you are constantly removing desirable thing's aswell... You must find a "happy medium" : )

There is no yes or no answer. It's totally up to you. You'll never get your tank as clean and water so pure as when you use Zeo/ultralith, so I don't think so. I've seen people with acro's swear by overskimming, and I've seen people's tanks that just turn light pale colors from overskimming. It's all about how much you feed, how many fish, what size tank etc, but in the end, yes, you can overskim.

I have mostly acros and I have been known to feed my fish well So maybe I should get a skimmer that is rated for a tank larger than what I have just to be safe. I just hate muying equipment then down the road a year finding myself wanting to buy a larger or better one.

Well, buy quality as well. You hardly ever see people sell a Deltec skimmer for a medium sized tank. It's not because people don't have them, but because people keep them once they buy them. Deltec, H&S, Euro-Reef, Tunze to some degree are all quality names in NeedleWheel skimmers which last forever and only need to be sold if the tank changes.

I would add Bubbleking to the list as well as ATi. Not sure if Tunze could rank in the same range as all that is listed above.

Get a real good skimmer however it is important to do your regular water changes. IMO as long as your skimmer is pulling out nasty junk then it's doing it's job.

I ordered the 250. My show tank is a 150g and I will have 270g more in the basement with my frag tank and sump.
