i'm confused(as always)
I was thinking about getting the sunpod for my tank, but they say that they can't be used with open top aquariums? My tank is rimless so now i'm on the hunt again for a slim 150W MH with an electronic ballast. Also what runs cooler magnetic or electronic ballasts?

My tank is open and ive run that fixture for nearly a year with great result. Whoever told you you cant use a sunpod on an open top tank has some issues.

Thats probably only because someone did something stupid and they have to put it on there for CYA purposes.

My buddy runs the 20inch 250 watter on an open tank as well. Its no different than any other light, it most certainly can be used on open tanks, just not IN them.
