skimmer problem!

I have a G2 in sump skimmer that is only 4 to 5 months old and i cant get the lid off to empty out the cup, which is not that big of a deal because i can dump the cup up side down and it empties and i can clean the cup also with the lid being stuck on the cup. But lately its been taking allot of time like 5-7 days to get less than a quarter of green waste in the cup, i have been getting allot more white foam and not much green waste, my power went out and ever sense then it has not been pulling like it use to, the skimmer is still practically new what should i do?
