Talking ok someone give me a hand im new at this

i just need a list im starting my first salt water tank i need to know everything that i need. the more i try to look and read peoples things the more confused i get. just about everyone seems like they have a differint opinion on things so just let me know what i need im planning on getting a 50g tank please help me out thanks alot

Well, um the best advice i could give you if your starting from scratch is to read a couple of good reef keeping books, They will give you the checklists that your looking for and give you a real good overview of the hobby from A to Z. Then when you get advice that's controversial you can compare it to what you have read and make a decision on what to do with that information.

The first thing you should decide on is what you would like to keep in your aquarium. Even before you get the aquarium. If you don't know then that will also be covered in the books. What you will want to keep will determine what you need as far as equipment, lighting, size of tank, etc....

lights (depinding on what corols u want there is 3 options PC's, MH,or t5's)
sump/fuge
skimmer ( dont go cheap) but do some reasearch befor u buy
salt
sand (u can go bottemless) but do some research i think u need a DSB in the sump to do it
rock (1pound per gallon give or take)
testkit ( again do your homework)
good source of ro/di water (tapwater = algee)

would be a good start

Once you have in mind what you want---i would purchase used---you can get some fabulous complete systems for alot less then buying retail.

Best advice is to read everything you can on the subject long before you spend a cent on equipment

My advise, ask the question to everyone - what good books do you recommend for beginners.
