hey, look at it this way, now you have an excuse to get a bigger tank. plus you're only talking about 7 gallons larger.

go as big as space allows and you can afford. the larger the tank the easier it will be to maintain a healthy and stable environment.

I think they only make a 58 gal Oceanic Ultimate Reef Ready. That is what I bought 2 months ago. $339.99 at That Fish Place.

You can get the Oceanic 58G Ultimate with starfire front glass for around $250. Drilling and adding an overflow is easy.

The all glass as a center brace

I had a 65 gallon AGA tank and if I had to pick from 58 oceanic vs 65 AGA again - I would go with the 58. The 58g has a thicker glass and has no center brace. On the 58g oceanic all you need is one 250MH lamp with T5's or VHO. On the 65g AGA - you'll want to have two lamps because of the center brace in the middle. Can't just have 1 MH lamp in the center or you'll get a light shadow in the middle for the tank.

JME - Hope this helps.

oh man, now i find out!!!! I did not know about the center brace. Well, I ordered the 65 for kicks and its here at the LFS. I plan on picking it up after work tonight. I'm gonna be running tek hood 6 bulbs so hopefully I should have enough light. Also the guy selling me the tank at the LFS told me the glass is thinner now but "tempered" which he said that they do some kind of extra heating process to the tank to make it stronger than any thick walled glass tank. It sounds good so we shall see.

Um, how about a 75

Well a 90 is just a 75 but about 5 or 6 inches taller

If it is tempered glass, don't ever try to add your own drill holes

Listen to Playa-1, go with the 90 gallon. The bigger the better. Let me tell you what happened to me last weekened. I finally convinced my wife last week to let me upgrade. So my old tank was a 55, 48 inches long. And to my understanding that was the only place where i could fit the tank. So all along for one whole week i looked for a 48 inches long tank. I looked for a 75 or an 80 gallon. I would have gone 120 but could not find a deal on it. Anyways i found a really nice bow front 75 with a 40 gallon sump, and it was 48 inches long. So i get home and my wife tells me to move the tank. What???? she tells me to move it, and all of a sudden i have way more room. I could have easily got away with 72 inches. My point to you is take leap and go way bigger. it will only hold you off a little longer.

budget is whats holding me down. I really wanted a 90 RR but we just bought a house, just got engaged, and the holidays are right around the corner! so needless to say, I have a lot going on right now. Plus, local reefing buddies helped me out by hooking me up with equipment for a 58/65. So i have lights and skimmer and tank. Now its time to build a stand and set it up. I got the 65RR home tonight and it looks awesome. I did not know about the center brace until today (before I picked it up) but it should not be a problem.

A 58 is much more manageable and enjoyable than a 90 IMO. Just get an ATO, it is essential.

With a tek light T5 6x bulbs - you'll be good to go. I had 4 T5 retros over my 65g and had no shadow problem.
