Snail Poop Everywhere!!!

So is there a easy way to clean the snail poop of the top layer of sand? Is there anything that will eat it that won't be detrimental to my system? Or will just vacuuming th esand do the trick?

I would siphon it.

If you have inhabitants that can handle increased flow i would increase the water flow in the tank to try and get more of the poop to your skimmer (assuming you have one)

I had two large turbos that seemed to poop constantly!

.... I gave them away.....

but the only way I found to get rid of it was to siphon it out.

Good Luck

I have increased the flow in my tank for that reason but it has caused a large problem in feeding only the large fish can get the large pieces of food i put in the smaller fish cant get the smaller pieces which get sucked into the filter any suggestions?

The easiest solution (far from the cheapest) is to use an aquarium controller that has a feed timer. This way the pumps/filters get turned off while the fish get a chance to eat whatever is put into the tank.

Other options include manually turning off the problematic equipment or adding the food to a place that has the least flow. The problem with manually turning off the equipment is its easy to forget to turn it back on

You can also have the equipment setup on a timer that you just set for whatever time you want when you feed. A turn type timer works best here unless you think you can feed the tank at the same time everyday .

Are you sure it is poop and not the snails spawning? You're most likely doing yourself a real disservice siphoning it out!
