Rolling on paint for background?

For all of you who have rolled on paint for your tank background, i have a few questions that i need help with.I am looking to paint on a blue background on my new 210 gallon tank.What brand or type of paint did you use and what type of sponge roller did you use.Also how did it turn out.Pictures if you have them of rolled on backgrounds.

I painted my 75 with krylon fusion spray paint, took 3 cans and went on very well.

Ive tried rolling and Ive tried spraying... I will never roll paint on a tank again, just didnt cover as well as spraying... spraying is much easier (at least for me it was) just make sure you do it in a ventilated area and tape off.

alten, that looks great. I'm usually not a fan of blue, but that looks really nice.

that said, I'm a roller.

which ever you do, I've had very good luck with rustoleum, hi gloss. I use black.

Well spraying is really not an option as the tank is already in the house.And it is just way to heave to take back outside to spray paint.That is why i am looking in to rolling it on.

i used half a gallon of of signiture series paint from lowes on my 180. would show pics but no water in it yet. I also used a roller for extra smooth surfaces, and it took like 6 coats. turned out well but took the majority of the day to do since the paint needs to dry before applying new coats.

I also am getting ready to paint my new 75 Gallon tank. I plan on using krylon fusion. I used it on my sons nano tank and it works great... I painted my old 75 by rolling it and it just takes too long and doesn't look as good to me...

i cut plexi glass to fit the back of my tank and sprayed it with krylon fusion out side the house. then velcroed(sp?) the plexi to the tank. works wonders

Clean it well before you paint. 99% alcohol, windex whatever just be sure the surface is prepped and clean.

If you have a dog... watch out for the stray dog hair.

A nice touch that I found from someone else here on ReefCentral was to use metallic paint. It gave their tank an awesome sense of depth that the usual flat paint just doesn't convey.

just simple black spray paint worked for me. its looks great and is A LOT easier to do

I sprayed my 30g corner with Krylon in a turquoise color, and it turned out great.

I brushed on black Rustoleum for my 125g & 135g, and they both came out good as well.

I rolled with baby blue marine acrylic. Looks decent.
