Unhappy Agony

I have had my arrow crab (spike) for over a year, I had him since he was a tiny thing until he has become 6inches. During the last week hair algee started growing on his head, and he would not try to clean it.

Today I came from work and i see him laying on his stomach, barely moving. He try to move his blue claws but he barely can close them.

I am afraid the worse has come, so I turned off the lights so if he needs to go he can do it peacefully.

He was a really good friend, and always brought excitement to the tank, he never harmed anybody and was always nice to the snails.

Ill miss my spike, fair well friend

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss I loved my arrow crab too but it fell victim to a maxijet intake a month after I got it.

It really sucks to see one of your favorite pets get sick and not be able to do anything about it.
Ihad a pet scorpion once tear off every one of its legs with its claws and then finally pulled off it's own stinger before dying. All i could do was watch. It was awful.

I'll never forget that feeling, so, my condolences.

I know most things hide when they molt their skin, but it would be nice to think he's just decided to moult out in the open this time?

Rich.

Oh I'm so sorry! Sometimes people don't understand how we can become so attached to our aquatic pets - it hurts some of us just as much to lose a treasured crab or fish as it does for others to lose a cat or a bird. It's very obvious that you loved Spike a lot, and I'm sure he had a good life. Hang in there, I'm so sorry for your loss.
