Spray on top coat over oil base stain options?

I am getting ready to apply a protective top coat to my diy stand and wanted to get some info on which product is best used with a HVLP sprayer. I have access to a professional spray booth and equipment. I am looking for something that I can use over an oil base stain, not too difficutl to spray, and something that will give me a matte finish. Any suggestions?

Sherwin Williams has a nice lacquer ( Sher-Wood® CAB-Acrylic Lacquer ) or (Sher-Wood® Moisture Resistant Lacquer ).
The Cab-Acrylic is probably your better option. It is more of a premium product. HTH, good luck, and show us pics.

Also practice spraying. Lacquer takes some practice, but its easy to fix if you make a mistake.

Can I use lacquer over an oil base stain? I read somewhere you can't spray lacquer over oil base stains. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I decided to just pick up a can of the Minwax clear satin spray on poly. Lugging the stand to my friends shop was just too much trouble. I am very happy with the results I got from the spray can. I applied 4 coats of the stuff. I put the completed stand pics in my DIY thread.

Wow very nice stand, I read thru your other thread.

Just for future reference you can use either of the products listed above on an oil stain. This lacquer is not difficult to spray either, IMO. It sets up fast and is sandable in an hour. Multiple coats will give the appreance of a finely finished piece of furniture.

Thanks for the info.....I will definitely keep that in mind. I actually have a few cabinet projects that I have to do in the near future. I will give the spray lacquer a try then.
