What the heck is this algae?

This darn thing is taking over my tank, I had 3 floods while I wasn't home thought it was my ATO. This morning it flooded again while I was still home so I found that this was clogging up my drain.

Bryopsis? It's hard to tell, if it looks feathery it's most likely Bryopsis, if it just looks like a clump of dog hair you find under your couch it's most likely hair algae.

It does not grow like crazy.

Just wondering if either a Lettuce Nudi or a Sea Hare would be beneficial here as 1 of em is said to eat byprosis...

How do I get rid of it? It doesn't grow like crazy but it does spread.

I had a mimic tang that went after it first above all other algae, I think that's the only animal I've seen eat it with gusto. Most other herbivores treat it like Brussel Sprouts, barely choking it down when nothing else is left (I actually like sprouts, but I live in sprout country). Beyond that I've read about increasing Mag levels ~1500 to get rid of it. The only thing that has worked for me is dosing Kalk, to keep alk and pH up, along with (gasp) manual removal.

Yup read it here on RC as well.. to keep MAG really high... the guys said that it didn't harm anything on the tank.

Won't a sea hare get rid of that?

had the same problem. get a toothbrush and some ro water. And scrub the work while dipping the rock in the water. Some pieces will be left but will die off. Also check you water parameters as something is off.

Manually picking it out works well.

I have it in my 58g tank, but I know that it still pesists due to a much needed bulb replacement.

My tank looks like I dyed a Border Collie green and then put her in the tank!

I've been picking it out by hand. I think it's my lights. I might go with bluer (and newer!) light bulbs to fix it.
