Can I put my HOB Protein Skimmer in my sump?
After making a few modications to my wet/dry/sump I think I could put my HOB down in my sump. Is there any reason I can't do this?
I understand I should probably upgrade my skimmer but I don't really have the space to do it as of yet. Any thoughts?

Yep. I ran one that way for a while. It worked quite well.

It could work fine. The big question is going to be whether or not the water level is appropriate. If the water is too high for the skimmer's output, you'll have to elevate it. If it is too low, you will have to deal with the splashing. If it is REALLY low, you might have to extend the intake or hose connecting the pump to the skimmer.

Mine was moved over a year ago and it works better in the sump than it did in the tank. Just put it in the first compartment so it gets the raw tank water first. Good luck.

I have my HOB skimmer in my fuge which has a high flow. Also the intake for the skimmer is right where the water from the tank enters. It works everybit as well as in the tank
