new 7 gallon

I need some light options for my new 7 gallon tank. I wanted something I could clip to the side and hangs over tank. If anyone has any advise on filters that would be nice too. Thanks.

DRfosters and smith has some clip on halogen lights that will probably work for what you want, I have never used a canister filter, but they have a small one for about $24, it might be worth a look

if you mod the halogen to hold a 70 mh then power it with the appropriate ballast you would be fine..

JBJ makes a 70 clip-on halide

also, i forget who makes it, i think it might be TAAM (you can find it on marinedepot.com) there is a tiny little 10-bulb LED light thats only $30. maybe two or three of those guys over hte back of your tank?

That is what I have done. I have a 70W MH, in total it is around $120 as a finished product.

Live rock, live sand, and a fission nano skimmer is what I would use for filtration. Than I would add some Koralia Nano's for water movement. Maybe hook them up to a Ocean Puuse wave maker.

Does that fission skimmer works well? I here mixed things about it. I was thinking about that one. I was also thinking about a hang on canister type filtration, but I have no experience with them.

I have never used a fission skimmer, but my friend has one on her 10 gal. nano. She likes it, says it works well. there are many skimmers out on the market pick the one you like best. Imo canister filters require to much maintenance and are not needed in a reef tank.
